As a child, Monisha Vijaykumar fondly remembers being on the sets of one of her father's (Kannada actor Vijay Kumar) films and boldly declaring her aspiration to become an actor. Although her father initially disapproved, destiny led her to be cast in a film directed by the same father who once discouraged her from pursuing acting.
Having recently graduated from the New York Film Academy, Monisha explains how the course surpassed her expectations. While her initial goal was to learn acting, she also gained training in editing and direction, providing her with a deeper understanding of filmmaking. Now, her primary aim post-course completion is to secure a role in a film and step into the world of cinema.
In her debut film, City Lights, Monisha portrays a naive young girl with ambitious dreams. Despite inquiries about why she didn't opt for a glamorous role for her first film, Monisha prioritizes being recognized as a performer over glamour. She acknowledges the challenges she faced upon returning home after her studies, with sleepless nights pondering how she would land her first acting opportunity. Eventually, her father surprised her by offering her a role in his upcoming film, City Lights, after observing her dedication and perseverance, proving that she had earned the chance through her efforts.
